New Leadership on Oxford School Board

Democrat Paula Guillet will head the school board.

Democrat Paula Guillet has been named Oxford Board of Education chairwoman.

The announcement was made at Tuesday's organizational meeting for the new school board, which includes four new members: Amy Cote, Stephen Brown, Diane Soracco - all Democrats - and Gerard Carbonaro, a Republican.

The vice chair is Lisa Hellauer who was an Independent but is now registered as a Democrat, according to the town's website. Soracco was named board secretary.

The board also discussed moving forward with a search for a new interim superintendent of schools. Interim Superintendent Jim Connelly's current contract with the town in his second stint in that role in Oxford states that he will work until Jan. 31. He is working at $650 a day.

The school board will hire an interim superintendent while it searches for a permanent educational leader.
