So Long, Summer

Quassy - Summer is almost over but Oktoberfest is right around the corner.

Hard to believe summer has come and gone (Fall officially begins on Saturday). We're winding down here at Quassy, but have a few more weekends to get under out belts before calling it quits for the 2012 season.

The park's 21st Annual OKTOBERFEST is just around the corner - actually it does take place the last weekend of September. If you haven't been - or for that matter have come in recent years - you may want to stop in and enjoy the band, great food by our in-house catering staff, and yes, "Wooden Warrior."

A lot of folks think we pack up and go home for the winter, watch football, celebrate the holidays and just wait for the snow to melt and start over again. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth.

We're already working on the 2013 season and will continue to do so throughout the off-season months. Little rest for this weary bunch.

Over the past several seasons there have been some dramatic, great changes at Quassy. Seeing is believing, of course, so you need to experience all the great "good" the family owners have done here.

And there more good stuff to come. The park embarked on this mission more than a decade ago and it's really showing: new waterpark, new rides and games and a lot of refurb of existing buildings and equipment.

Still, Quassy has maintained some of its charm of yesteryear with its 1915 arcade building in the heart of the property. It was an open-air dance hall when it first opened.

Then there are the kiddy rides behind the arcade that have thrilled generations. We just love to listen to our guests comment on them. It's fun to hear comments like: "I rode the Little Dippler 40 years ago when I was a kid." Nothing wrong with that. Those rides were built like tanks and have withstood the test of time.

You know, good stuff does come in small packages - and that's us. Quassy has never tried to be a "big" park. There are plenty of those, and for good reason. We'll remain focused on being "famiy" - for those with pre-teens.

We tired after the long, hot summer. We'll dust ourselves off just a little and simply pick up where we left off.

A few more weekends and we'll be able to say: "See you next year."
