200 Years of Celebrating Christ 1812-2012
Christ Church Quaker Farms in Oxford announces its Big Bicentennial Birthday Bash.
On Sunday, September 23rd, from 12-2 pm., at 470 Quaker Farms Road, CCQF will celebrate its 200th anniversary by hosting a fun-filled afternoon of activities, presentations, and food. Special activities will include pony rides, hay rides, a vertical balloon ride [weather permitting], and a moon bounce. Also, a "Make-Your Own-Gourmet-Hot-Dog" stand will be set up. A talk about the history of Christ Church Quaker Farms will be conducted by Marilyn Stebar in the parish hall and will include display boards, a video, and an oral presentation. Mrs. Stebar has also compiled updated information of the church's history into a booklet which can be pre-ordered at the event.
Prior to the festivities, during Sunday's 10 am service, Father John Donnelly will use excerpts from Episcopal Prayer Books dating back to 1816, 1892, 1928, and 1979.
In the case of inclement weather, the historical presentation will take place on September 23rd as planned, but the outdoor activities will be postponed until Sunday, September 30th.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please go to: www.ccqf.org, or call Bob at 203-270-9317, or Tammy at 203-888-4936.
