Oxford Center School Plants Flowers for Earth Day

Event held Friday at school.

pupils planted flowers around the perimeter of campus buildings - which are detached from the main portion of the school - on Friday to honor Mother Earth.

The Earth Day celebration was spearheaded by teacher Aaron Reich. He and several other faculty and staff members teamed up with students, parents and other members of the community to plant dozens of flowers and plants that are now surrounded by mulch that they also laid down on Friday.

Reich said in the Southford section of Southbury and Haynes Materials in Oxford donated hundreds of dollars worth of materials to the cause. Various members of the school community also donated time and/or materials.
