Oxford High Develops Core Values Statement

Tell us how well OHS lives up to its mission.

In preparation for its first accreditation review, Oxford High School was encouraged to put together a core values statement.

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, which conducts the accreditation process, explained that they were looking for a short statement that still reflected the overall mission of the school. The statement is as follows:

"Oxford High School's Core Values are to support, inspire, and encourage all students to strive for academic success as they develop into productive members of society."

The Board of Education accepted the statement and said that OHS offers much more but that all of the school represents cannot be put into just one sentence.

What do you think about the statement? Does the sentence adequately describe what the mission of the high school should be? Does the school live up to its mission? Please tell us in the comments section.
