Oxford Schools Closed on Friday
Superintendent says there are still roads that have been deemed unsafe for school buses.
The following message comes dircetly from Superintendent Tim Connellan:
Unfortunately there will be no school on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, however, District and school offices will be open similar to today. I believe the Emergency Shelter at OHS will continue to be open until 8 p.m. tonight then will reopen from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
There are still roads that have been deemed unsafe for school buses by Town Emergency personnel. Town officials are focusing the efforts of CL&P crews and Town crews on those areas in an attempt to resolve the safety issues. I will be meeting with Town leaders, Emergency Management and Public Works personnel and All-Star Transportation tomorrow to develop a contingency plan for student transportation so that we will be able to open school on Monday even if some roads remain compromised to a certain extent. I will be disseminating information regarding the contingency plan at some point in time after the meeting at the Emergency Operations Center tomorrow.

Media outlets are being notified now and a message will be posted on the district website. A Code Ed message will be sent out this afternoon. The First Selectman will probably include the closing notice in his evening Code Red alert.
I will be disseminating additional information on Friday.
