Oxford Schools Now Closed Tuesday, As Well

Superintendent Tim Connellan says he hopes the schools will be open on Wednesday.

Oxford public schools will be closed on Tuesday due to the anticipated effects of Hurricane Sandy, said Superintendent Tim Connellan.

"Hopefully, we will be able to open again Wednesday morning," he said.

Connellan said notifications of the closure have gone out to media outlets, such as television stations, and via the school system's CodeED emergency notification system. (Editor's Note: I cannot find a link on the school district's website about where people can sign up for that. If anyone knows how to sign up, feel free to share the information via our comments field. Thank you.)

Here at Oxford Patch, we're doing all we can to keep you updated.

Thanks, Madelene. But I'm still not seeing it. I see CodeRed, but not the education one, CodeEd. Pass along a link if you find one, though I'm sure you're busy! - Have a good one.

I'm not sure Paul, I thought it was al the same but maybe not. I think most people get the best updates from you.

Yeah!! Good stuff. Thanks for reading. On another note, the school board chair just reached out to me and said parents are entered into the system at the beginning of the school year. There is no way to sign up online that we know of. Thanks!

From the new superintendent, Tim Connellan, whom I've found to be very responsive. That's good and something this town - and all towns - need from their school and govt. reps. Thanks! - The Code Ed system is specifically for parents, guardians, faculty and staff. The communication or contact information is pulled from PowerSchool the Student Information System (SIS). Parents provide this information to the schools. Therefore there is no "online" sign up. Code Red is the notification system used by Oxford and many other municipalities. Code Ed is a derivative of that system designed specifically for notifications to a specific subset, namely parents, guardians, faculty and staff. Other members of the community can obtain school closing or delay information through the medial outlets
