Temple Says Police Will Be in Oxford Schools

First selectman also says that counseling will be made available to those who need it.

 

The following message was sent out to Oxford residents via the CodeRed emergency notification system by First Selectman George Temple

"The tragic events in the town of Newtown have had a profound effect on all of us. While our tears and prayers are with the families and friends of the innocent victims, we must also consider the mental and physical well-being of all of our children.

"To that end, I have met with our superintendent, Tim Connellan, and he will provide counseling for all of our students and parents through the school system.

"I have directed that emergency services personnel, including police, be in all of our schools until further notice.

"The town of Oxford and its Board of Education has a zero tolerance policy for anybody and anything that will in any way attempt to compromise the safety of our schools or our children.
