Drayton SWC Champ in Two Events, Girls Finish 6th

Oxford High School junior Taylor Drayton earned All-South-West Conference first-team honors by winning the discus with a SWC-record throw of 121-06 and the shot put 37-4.5 at the SWC Championship Monday in Bethel.

Drayton has won the SWC shot put and discus championships for the last three years.  Drayton also earned All-SWC second team honors by placing second in the javelin. She set an OHS school record with a throw of 111-11. She missed winning the event by one inch.

Overall as a team, Oxford finished sixth out of 14 schools, its best finish to date.

Savada Robinson earned All-SWC Honorable Mention by placing 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.75, 300 meter hurdles in 47.74 and 200 meters in 26.2.

Anne Dennen placed 5th in the High Jump with a jump of 4-8 and Audrey Pratt placed 5th in the Javelin with a throw of 98-3.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Kristen Barbaris, Kristen Au, Jasmin Leung and Elizabeth Rascko placed 5th with a time of 10:29.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Jasmyn DiPitero, Savada Robinson, Audrey Pratt and Hannah VanBuiten placed 8th with a time of 52.59.

Kristen Barbaris placed 7th in the 1600 meter run in a time of 5:40   Olivia Richter placed 6th in the 3200 meter run in a time of 12:13.

Anastasia Martinez placed 9th in the Shot Put with a throw of 28-6.25.

Audrey Pratt placed 10th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 30-4.25.

The Girls next meet is Tuesday May 28 at Willowbrook Park in New Britain for the Class S Championships.
