Girls Cross Country Wins All Three in Tri Meet

The Wolverines are looking solid this season.

The Oxford High School girls cross country team won all three matches in a tri-meet on Tuesday at a 3.1-mile course in Weston. The girls defeated Notre Dame of Fairfield by a score of 15-50; they defeated Stratford 19 to 44; and they beat Weston 16-47 (note: the lowest score wins in cross country).

Thirteen of Oxford's 17 girls finished in the top 20.

Brianna Hoffner placed first overall with a course record time of 21:33. Sara Ponce finished third with a time of 23:10, Kristen Au finished fourth at 23:30, Marissa Bruno finished fifth at 23:33, Kristen Speaker was seventh at 24:23, Rebecca Buswell was eighth at 24:26 and Hannah Latka was ninth at 24:29 led Oxford to dominating performance as the girls placed seven runners in the top ten.

Alaih Murray was 11th at 25:19, Lindsey Koski was 12th at 25:59, Becky Gumbrewicz was 13th at 26:00, Anne Dennen finished 18th at 27:31, Maggie Palys finished 19th at 28:25 and Hannah McDonnell finished 20th at 29:06.

Caroline Wolf, 30:15, Emily Bockish 31:04, DiDi Wilds 33:09 and Marta Zeglen 36:30 all ran well for the Lady Wolverines.
