UPDATE: Voting to Have the Masuk-Oxford Football Televised Ends Tonight

You can vote to have the game be chosen as the high school football game of the week on NBC 30.

UPDATE: Voting ends at 9 p.m. on NBC 30. Click here to cast a vote. The voting period opened at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, and will close at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2. The winner will be announced during the 11 p.m. broadcast on Wednesday.

Original Story

Monroe's Masuk High School has a storied football program. In the past 15 years, the Panthers have won three state titles and five South-West Conference championships.

The Oxford High School football program is up-in-coming. In 2012, the Wolverines had the best season in the program's seventh year of existence, going 8-2 and barely missing the program's first state playoff berth.

Now, David and Goliath have an opportunity to play on a brand new artificial turf field, under the lights at Wolverine Field in Oxford. And there is a good chance it might be televised on a cable network.

That is where you, dear reader, come into play.

NBC Connecticut runs a contest in which it asks viewers to pick the high school football game of the week. The network then sends a production crew to the field to cover the game.

The game will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Oxford High School, 61 Quaker Farms Road, Route 188. It will be aired on TV if Oxford-Masuk gets the most votes amongst three other contests. The other games are Farmington at Whetersfield, Hartford Public at Windsor and North Haven at Daniel Hand.
