Oxford All Stars Playing for State Title

The team will play at noon on Saturday for the crown.

The Oxford 12-year-old Babe Ruth All Star team will compete for a state title Saturday in the Cal Ripken 46/60 State Tournament.

Matt Stordy tossed a shutout Thursday in a 7-0 win over Shepaug in the semi finals. He tossed six innings of shutout ball and allowed only two hits and striking out 11.

Six runs in the opening three innings allowed Oxford helped Oxford take command early. An RBI single by Liam Donaldson and an RBI triple by Quinn Hillman during the second inning fueled the offense early. An RBI single by Dean Fallas helped round out the scoring for Oxford.

The Oxford bats were hot as the team had a total of 14 hits. Liam Donaldson racked up three RBI, going two for three at the plate. Nick D’Amico and Cameron Theilman also went two for three.

Saturday’s game is at noon at Conway Field in Roxbury. Oxford will play the winner of the play-in game between Shepaug and Danbury. Oxford has beaten both teams already in the tournament. Oxford needs to win one game to claim the title. They need to be beaten twice in order for another team to win the crown in the double-elimination tournament.
