Oxford Cross Country Teams Finish Eighth at SWCs

Both the boys and girls teams won the sportsmanship award given annually by the coaches of the SWC.

 

The Oxford High School boys' cross country team finished eighth out of 15 teams, the best finish in school history, at the SouthWest Conference Championship Thursday at Bethel High School.

Cameron Swift earned All-SWC 1st team honors by placing 5th overall. His time was 16:52. Zach Frew placed 38th 18:19, Brandon Au 50th 19:00, Richard Katreyna 57th 19:22, Chris Gee 68th 19:55, Joe Venturini 75th 20:29, and Zack Latka 78th 20:46.  Tyler Sharron ran a personal best in the JV race with a time of 25:47

The girls' cross country team also finished eighth out of 16 teams.

Savada Robinson was Oxford's top finisher in 45th place with a time of 22:43. Brianna Hoffner 46th 22:44, Elizabeth Racsko 48th 22:48, Rebecca Buswell 49th 22:49, Becky Gumbrewicz 72nd 24:19 and Lindsey Koski 83rd 25:00. 5 of the 6 girls that ran in race ran their fastest times of the season.  In the Girls JV race Elsie Aubry ran 26:00, Sarah Woolfrey 27:05, Maggie Palys 27:43, Hannah VanBuiten 28:12, Masha Shaposhnikova 29:37, Anne Dennen 30:44, Sam Orner 30:17, and Michaela Ryan 31:52. 5 of the 8th girls ran their fastest time of the season.

The next meet is Saturday at Wickham Park for the Class SS Championships. The girls run at 1 pm and the boys at 1:30 p.m.

Both the Boys and the Girls team won the SWC XC Sportmanship Award that is awarded annually by the SWC Coaches.
