Oxford Cross Country Teams Head to SWC Championships

See how the Wolverines are doing going into the homestretch.

 

The Oxford High School boys' cross country team has the most wins in school history with seven this year. Last week, the team went 1-2, with a win over Notre-Dame Fairfield and losses to Newtown and Brookfield. Here are the results as submitted by Coach Ed Lucas

Cameron Swift came in 9th in a time of 18:18. Zach Frew was 11th in 18:26, Brandon Au 16th 18:59, Richard Katrenya 20th 19:09, Joe Venturini 43rd 20:35, Chris Gee 65th 22:22, Greg Herold 70th 22:41 and Noah Budris 73rd 23:11.

The girls' cross country team is 8-6 on the year. The girls had wins last week over Brookfield and Notre-Dame Fairfield, and a loss to Newtown. Here are the results:  

Liz Rascko came in 3rd in a time of 23:18. Rebecca Buswell 5th 23:23, Becky Gumbrewicz 11th 23:51, Lindsey Koski 26th 25:15, Giovanna McMahon 32nd 26:11, Maggie Palys 41st 28:01, Sarah Woolfrey 43rd 30:10, Hannah VanBuiten 44th 20:29, Michaela Ryan 51st 33:39, and Sam Orner 54th 34:41.

The next meet is Thursday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m. at Bethel HS for the SWC Championships.
