Oxford Falls to Weston in Home Opener

Wolverines lose 32-14 and are now 1-1 on the season.

 

OXFORD - The Oxford High School Wolverine football team lost 32-14 to Weston in its home opener on Saturday.

Oxford was led by quarterback Brennen Diaz, who completed 10 of 19 passes for 133 yards and two interceptions. He scored Oxford's second and final touchdown on a seven yard run.

Marcus Esteves carried the ball five times for 43 yards, including a three-yard TD run. Steve Pearson had 14 carries for 54 yards, while Jeff Haney had three carries for seven yards.

Chris VanKamerik caught four passes for 37 yards, Kevin Loschaivo had four receptions for 58 yards, David Lovorgna caught one pass for 15 yards and Kyle Chudoba caught one pass for 23 yards.

For Weston, quarterback Tyler Hasset had a great day on both sides of the ball with three TDs. He rushed for one, passed for another and returned an interception 80 yards for a third. He carried the ball 14 times for 80 yards and completed four passes for 68 yards; threw one interception. 

Zach Cannon carried the ball three times for 92 yards, including a 69 yard touchdown run. Sam Panton scored on a 45-yard run. And Justin Schaffer three catches for 65 yards.

Oxford falls to 1-1 on the season, while Weston improves to 2-0.
