Oxford Performs Well in SWC Cross Country Championships

The Oxford boys cross country team finished 9th out of 15 teams at the SouthWest Conference championship. This was the boys best ever finish at the SWC meet. Cameron Swift finished 12th in a time of 17:31 to become the 1st boys from OHS to earn All-SWC 1st team honors. 59th Brandon Au 19:34, 60th  Ian Murray 19:35, 61st Chris Gee 19:43, 77th Zack Latka 21:06, 79th Richard Katreyna 21:16 and 90th Sean Coffindaffer 24:37 rounded out Oxford's varsity.  In the JV Race Joe Venturini ran 23:04 and Kevin Reid finished in 23:54.

The girls team finished 5th out of 16 teams. Marcea Stilson came in 4th place 20:22 and Caylee Richardson 8th place 20;34 to earn All-SWC 1st team honors. Skyler Werner 27th 21:45, Sara Ponce 52nd 23:04, Brianna Hoffner 54th 23:06, Giovanna McMahon 70th 24:37 and Lindsey Koski 79th 25:36 rounded out the varsity squad. The girls JV team came in 8th out of 16 teams with Sara Thorpe finishing in 26:11 to lead the JV squad. Sarah Woolfrey 27:30, Mila Bowersox 30:33, Hannah VanBuiten 30:51, Emily Lones 30:54, Michaela Ryan 32:29, Sam Orner 32:47 also ran well for the girls team.

Oxford's next meet is the Class SS Championships at Wickham Park in East Hartford on October 29th. The Boys run at 3:10 and the Girls run at 3:40 pm.
