Carl, are you referring to the FIGHT that ex Football and Wrestling Coach and current BOE member Carbamarro caused at last weeks football game, where he illegally went on to the football field at the end of the game, spit into the face of the Asst Coach who he had fought with at Oxford high, and caused a brawl? I wonder why the Patch didn't report this too? Paul?

When did this occur? I was never made aware of this?
Paul Singley October 20, 2012 at 05:52 PM
Hello, Dad in Oxford. I will tell you that I heard the same thing. However, I had nobody willing to go on the record so at that point, it was simply a rumor. The police did not make an arrest, either. I think people know by now that I don't shy away from the news if it's warranted. But there was not enough to report on this particular case. However, if the board of education takes up a discussion about it, which I would think they would if there is enough information, I will certainly do something about it. Also, when I contacted Gerard, he said this was blown out of proportion and called the accusations, particularly the part about spitting, an outright lie. So, if anybody was there and wants to discuss this on the record for attribution, please call me at 646.241.6337. Thank you.

yes dad in oxford. it was at the game against newtown. were you there? if so, call singley up. i was there, but apparently what i saw doesn't matter. this guy ran across the field, pushed through some people and spit on a coach from the other team. of course if you ask him he's gonna down play it. i was with my son and will not return to another oxford game. mr. brown, i voted for you. you should know about this as it was a melee on the field.

Carl: Are your comments for attribution?
Paul Singley October 21, 2012 at 02:28 AM
If they are, I'll call you and we'll talk further.

Steve, you were not informed because you are not on the real board of education. That board has only for members. Three are oxford officials, 2 of them are on education. They will tell you what to do if they decide to do anything.

This man keeps giving Oxford athletics and the entire town a huge "BLACK EYE". When is the BOA or school adminstration going to take action? To make matters worse, he is on various town and school committees. These committees are setting the direction for our great town and its students. What kind of an example is he setting? He has consistantly embarrassed us and continues to show horrible judgement!!! Mr. Temple, you should be very careful. He is placing a huge scare on your administration.

Gerard Carbonaro’s admitting there was another incident of his inability to control his temper at the OHS football home game with Newtown, raises a serious issue. There are now three incidents, two previous ones lead to his removal as a coach from OHS sports. How long is the BoE going to ignore these public displays of bullying by one of their members? There are at least eight members, some of who have children in the schools, who should act on this serious issue. If Mr. Carbonaro’s bullying is allowed to pass without any meaningful consequences, what are our kids to think? Do they assume it’s OK to do likewise, that it’s the adult thing to do when you don’t like a ref’s or someone’s decision? Do they see people entrusted with their education too afraid or unwilling to do what is right? A lot of lessons to be learned here, by the kids, their parents and the voters. The question is which lesson. Watch and see if any of the eight willing to step up and do the right thing?

Ed, what can they do? He's elected, so he can't be kicked off the BOE. At the minimum, he should be removed by the Chair of all subcommittee duties and publicly reprimanded by the Chair and publicly asked for him to remove himself from the BOE. This person is a disgrace to Oxford and to all those who volunteer with good intentions. He is a coward for acting out like a spoiled brat!

Carl: Please check your email. The one that your Patch account is linked to. It's in regards to your recent blogs about this situation. I'm prepared to use the information; I just want to discuss this further. Thank you.

So when do you plan to run the story on Carbanarro and his football issue?
Paul Singley October 25, 2012 at 01:40 AM
As soon as someone is willing to go on the record about what they've heard. So far, the only person who wants to do so - who claims to be someone named Carl Bassett - refuses to talk to me on the phone or in person. I have a feeling that person doesn't exist since he doesn't have children in the school system, isn't a registered voter and doesn't own property in Oxford. The school board is not investigating any issue, according to its chair, and neither is the superintendent. I know at least one other school board member is upset about this, but so far, he has not reached out to talk about it on the record. Right now, all we have is rumor and innuendo, plus official sources, including the police, saying that the description of what happened was a complete exaggeration. Other news outlets that have been contacted about this have said the same thing.
