Oxford High School sophomore Taylor Drayton finished fifth in the discus and the shot put at the New England Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past weekend in Saco, Maine. With her performance, Drayon becomes Oxford's first athlete to earn all-New England honors.
Drayton competed against 35 other girls and threw 124 feet, six inches in the discus. She also beat her own school record in the shot put with a throw of 37 feet, nine inches.
She will compete on Thursday and Saturday at the New Balance National Track and Field Championshiops in Greenboro, N.C. She will throw the discus on Thursday and the shot put on Saturday.
