Oxford Softball One Win Away From Title Game

The Wolverines won easily in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon.

The Oxford High School softball team cruised through the quarterfinals of the Class S state championship tournament with a 13-1 victory over East Windsor Friday.

The No. 1 ranked Wolverines knocked off the 25th ranked East Windsor team to advance to the semifinals, which will be held either Monday or Tuesday at a site and time to be announced. Oxford will play No. 12 seed Coventry for a chance to make the state finals.

Sophomore Ashley Guillette pitched a two-hitter, giving up no walks and striking out 17.

Sophomore Kaley Kempf, who recently returned from knee surgery, led the team on offense with three hits, including an RBI triple.

Oxford improves to 20-3 on the season.
