Oxford Wrestlers Continue to Roll

Team improves to 7-1 on the season.

The following was submitted to Oxford Patch:

The Wolverine wrestlers came away with another victory against Bethel on Wednesday, improving their season record to 7-1.

Even with two of the team's starting wrestlers out with injuries, the Wolverines finished the away meet held at Bethel with an impressive 55-24 victory. This young team of grapplers, now entering its fourth season, is setting its sights on making an impact in the SWC Conference Championships being held on February 10 and 11, and being a top contender for the Class S State Championship.

Two of this year's wrestlers have achieved recognition in CTWrestlingLive's statewide rankings posted this week.

Joe Carbonarro at 220 lbs. is now ranked No. 2 in the state for his weight class, while Paul Chavez at 132 lbs. is ranked No. 7 in the state for his weight class.
