Sports Roundup: Girls' Soccer Secures First Win

The girls' volleyball team secures its second win of the season; swimmers compete well.

 

The Oxford High School girls’ soccer team secured its first win of the season Monday at home in a 10-0 win over Kolbe Cathedra.

Melanie Cianciola and Taylor Saja scored for Oxford in the first half. Rachel Giannettino, Makena Hillman, Kristen Au, Taylor Drayton, and Alyssa Overton all scored for Oxford in the second half.

Kolbe’s goalkeeper, Karla Grajeda, had 31 total saves.Oxford is now 1-7 on the season. Its next game is Thursday against Notre Dame-Fairfield.

Swimming

The Oxford High School girls' swim team lost last week to Lyman Hall. The Wolverines are now 1-4 on the season. Here are the results:

Volleyball

The Oxford girls' volleyball team won its second game of the season against Kolbe Cathedral last week.

The Wolverines were led by Katie Mitchel, who had16 kills. Tori Bogen added an astonishing 10 aces in the match. Rachael Camarra lead the defense with 14 digs.

Oxford improved to 2-3 on the season.
