"Dog Days," which is typically the largest fundraiser for the shelter, was not held last year for the first time since 1999 due to a lack of volunteers to help run the popular event. Animal shelter volunteers said they had hoped to bring the program back and began fundraising efforts more than a year ago. The event typically draws hundres of canines and their owners to town and raises thousands of dollars for the shelter.

Currently, the Shelter Committee is seeking volunteers to assist with planning the event and/or working at the event. Volunteers are asked to email their contact information to dogdaysofoxford@gmail.com. Interested vendors and program book advertisers should also send an e-mail to that address for more information.
