Friends Hold Fundraiser for Oxford Man's Family

A benefit for the family of Shawn Quimby will be held on Sept. 8.

 

Friends of an Oxford man who died last week are holding a fundraiser next weekend to help the man's family.

Friends of , 40, will hold a pasta dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the  Post 174. There is a suggested $20 donation. Tickets can be purchased at the , 35 Old State Road, in Oxford, or by calling Quimby’s close friend, Becky Cavallaro at 203.828.8642.

Quimby went missing last week and to find him at the Connecticut State Bridle Trail near Quimby’s home in Oxford. When they found Quimby, he had died. Investigators have determined no foul play was involved.

Cavallaro said Quimby's family can use money to pay for funeral-related expenses and other expenses that Quimby may have incurred.

A flyer for the event says it will also be a celebration of Quimby's life. 

Cavallaro said that Quimby frequently helped others, and she wants to do the same for him.

“He had such a big heart,” she said. “This is a huge loss for everyone around here.”
