The Oxford Land Trust offers people an opportunity to enjoy a guided hike of the Pomperaug Trail on Saturday, June 2, at 9 a.m. in celebration of the Connecticut 2012 Trails Day.
Meet Peter Petrochko and Scott Roth at the far end of the parking area, located at the end of Jackson Cove Road, to join the 2.3-mile hike sponsored by the Oxford Land Trust (oxfordlandtrust.org).
The CFPA blue-blazed hiking trail traverses scenic hills of the Housatonic River, passing old charcoal pits and small waterfalls that are part of the Housatonic Greenway.
Bring beverages, snacks/lunch, insect repellant and good walking shoes.
A 4.6-mile round-trip is optional. The hike will be postponed until June 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. if there is heavy rain.
