Soon-to-be Oxford Eagle Scout Plans Car Wash Saturday

Soon-to-be Eagle Scout Zachary Geffert is working on finishing his Boy Scout Eagle Project and has planned a car wash Saturday to help raise funds. Geffert, an Oxford High School student is working on a project that entails introducing the Great Oak Middle School technology students to the CT Science and Engineering Fair through presentations from high school students.

The Boy Scouts of America have a series of requirements a Scout must meet in order to earn his Eagle Scout award:

  • Be active in your troop, team, crew, or ship for a period of at least six months after you have achieved the rank of Life Scout.
  • Demonstrate that you live by the principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law in your daily life.
  • Earn a total of 21 merit badges including the following:
  • Serve actively in your unit for a period of six months in one or more of the following positions of responsibility.
  • Boy Scout troop
  • Varsity Scout team
  • Venturing crew/ship
  • While a Life Scout, plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, any school, or your community.
  • Take part in a unit leader conference.
  • Successfully complete an Eagle Scout board of review.

  • The car was Saturday will help Gefferts reach his goal by allowing him to help another group. The car wash is this Saturday, June 21 at Center School, 462 Oxford Road, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Gefferts hopes to to raise funds to be used for registrations fee for Great Oak Middle School students to enter a project in the fair next year. Donations are $5 (or more) per car.
