The following is a press release from the Connecticut Audubon Society.
On Sunday our "Big Sit!" team, the B.W. Surf Scopers, will again defend and attempt to break their Connecticut "Big Sit!" birding record - 107 species seen from within a 17-foot circle at Milford Point — and raise money to support the Coastal Center in the process!
The "Big Sit!" is an international event, created by New Haven Bird Club, and sponsored by Bird Watchers Digest. It will be held Sunday, Oct. 13. Our goal is to spot as many species as possible without leaving our seats!
We need your help to make this event the best yet. So please support our record-breaking quest and the Connecticut Audubon Society's Milford Point Coastal Center with a pledge.
Every dollar you pledge will go directly to support our Coastal Center — truly one of the best birding destinations in the Northeast!
Your donation is 100-percent tax deductible; the money will support our conservation and education efforts.
Please contact Louise Crocco, our office manager, for a pledge form at 203-878-7440, ext. 502. We appreciate your generous support.
The B.W. Surf Scopers are some of the best birders in the state: Coastal Center Director Frank Gallo, Jim Dugan, Patrick Dugan, Tina Green, and Frank Mantlik. While 117 birds is their record, we expect them to see somewhere around 100 species, so a pledge of $1 per bird will amount to a donation of about $100.
We'll post the results on our blog, at Ctaudubon.blogspot.com.
