Laura LoPorto Eng is a lifelong resident of Carroll Gardens. She grew up on DeGraw Street where her mom still lives. It was a wonderful place to grow up with her siblings, surrounded by lots of extended family and great neighbors. Laura attended Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary Elementary School, St. Joseph’s High School and Pace University. She worked for over 20 years as a tax preparer with Ernst & Young and has been a stay-at-home mom for the last several years. She enjoys volunteering as a Learning Leader at P.S. 58 and helping out when she can at Sacred Hearts/St. Stephen’s Church where she is a parishioner. Laura obviously loves living in Brooklyn, specifically Carroll Gardens. While the neighborhood has changed over the years and many of the old businesses have sadly closed, Laura feels that much of the change has been good. She likes traveling but firmly believes she could not possibly live anywhere else. She is excited about all the new restaurants and businesses but she still enjoys the old treasures of the neighborhood which include the library, the gardens, Court Pastry, Caputo’s, D'Amico's, Ferdinando’s, and most importantly the people! Laura lives with her husband of 23 years, Mike, and their two boys, Matthew, a Tisch School sophomore and Gabriel, a Beacon High School sophomore.
