Connelly Back as Oxford's Interim School Chief

James Connelly will go back to the Oxford school district as its interim superintendent.

The Board of Education will welcome back interim schools Superintendent to run the district while it conducts a search for a full-time leader.

Connelly will take over for Superintendent Edward Malvey, who will resign effective Aug. 3. Malvey, who was hired in January, cited personal reasons for the leave.

After discussing the issue in an executive session Tuesday, the school board voted in favor of Connelly, a former superintendent of Bridgeport public schools who served here for the first half of this school year after the resignation of former Superintendent Judith Palmer.

Malvey told the board he has "thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve this town,” and said he wished the board luck moving forward.

It could not immediately be confirmed how much Connelly would earn during his stint as interim superintendent. The last time he served here, he earned $600 a day.
