Hello, friends. The families of the Oxford Swim Team are devastated by the loss of our Coach John. Not only was he a fantastic coach, but he was a good friend to a lot of us and we will miss him terribly. Please see the obituary below:
Hiteshew, John
John Hamilton Hiteshew, 53, of Newtown died of an aneurysm on August 22rd at Danbury Hospital. John was born in Staten Island, NY. He was educated in the Newtown school system and was working on a degree in sports management at Ashford University. John was a swimming coach for the Oxford, CT Park and Recreation Department and a golf instructor for Newtown Adult Education. John was the son of Leila (Johnson) Hiteshew of Newtown and the late Merhl Hiteshew. He is also survived by two children Tara Ann and Christopher Hamilton Hiteshew. He was predeceased by his wife Susan in 2001. Additional survivors include one sister Karin Helsel and her daughter, Erica; two brothers, David and his wife Virginia and their three children, Caroline,Virginia and William of Chicago, IL and Steve and his wife Kim of Bethel and his longtime friend Teri McCusker. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday August 26th at 12:00 noon in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown with the Rev. Jim Solomon officiating.
