Library's "Lovesick" Valentine's Day Dessert Contest Winner Announced

The Oxford Public Library hosted a Valentine's Day Dessert Contest with a twist.

The Oxford Public Library congratulates Laura Gabor, the winner of the "Lovesick" Valentine's Day Dessert Contest.

On February 7, library patrons were invited to show how they felt about Valentine's Day by making a treat that was either "love"-ly or "sick." The nine entries included such delightful treats as heart-shaped brownies and chocolate-covered pretzels. More unusual snacks were also entered, like cowpat cookies and bloodshot hardboiled-egg eyeballs. (Perhaps a creative way to express "I only have eyes for you"?)

Contestants were the judges. After a close vote, Laura Gabor's Chocolate Dream Cake was named the winner. She received a human-heart-shaped gelatin mold and a copy of Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes, gross items that nonetheless served as a very sweet reward.
